New Objects on the Huong River – Hue City

Huong River, Hue City, Vietnam (2013)

“When I was young, I often built rafts from banana trees to transport goods, livestock, and people during the annual floods. These experiences, filled with both anxiety and excitement, inspired an idea to float clusters of silver-colored objects along the Perfume River in Hue, Vietnam. This was a conceptual experiment, simulating the movement of people and banana rafts on the water.

The artworks would drift slowly with the river’s current, evoking the gradual encroachment of industrialization on Hue, the ancient capital. This once tranquil city, known for its slow pace of life and reputation as a hub of tourism and cultural preservation, is now being subtly transformed.”
